The original Series 1 Smart Start, new old stock (NOS), is designed for AC units ranging from 12,000 to 30,000 BTU and operates at 208-240V, 50-60Hz. Unlike the latest Series III, this model lacks troubleshooting lights. It is not waterproof and must be installed inside a control box or mounted on a wall with wiring entering from below if placed outside. The label on your unit shows the LRA amps needed to start your AC; if your power source can’t supply that, the Smart Start reduces LRA amps by over half—for example, cutting a 72-amp start requirement to under 36 amps.
